Adoption, Foster & Kinship Care

Children and youth who transition from biological or long-term foster family placements to new family care settings many times struggle with the adjustment into a new home and care provider. There can be issues related to cultural, social and familial needs that families may need help managing.

Pikes Peak Behavioral Health Group provides both outpatient family therapy and case management supports to families in transition as a result of out of home placements or adoption care issues.  A specialized adoption care coordinator is located at the Department of Human Services and assists with pre and post adoptive families in connecting with resources in the community. In some situations where families are experiencing a significant amount of challenge in transition, family preservation supports may be provided.
